New Parts

In the meantime I ordered all the parts for the engine buildup. Pistons, Rods, Bearings, Bushings, Filters, and Gaskets - everything you need to let the old beast tear holes in the atmosphere once again. Jackie and I decided not to go fancy but to try to keep everything as close to original as possible. Well, almost :-) The block will be .40 overbored and we opted for 1,6 ratio Rocker Arms and Hypereutectic Pistons. The Cam is hydraulic flat tappet. I really like Jackies attitude when it comes to building engines, getting the most bang for the buck and keeping an eye on those ever important details! Can't wait for the results...

Out comes the engine

The Cuda actually did fire up but it didn't sound very promising, so the first step was to pull the engine and trans. You can see everything is very original, no headers, no aftermarket carb, no chrome add-ons. My friend Jackie form the v8garage.com did all the hard work, he will also build the engine and rework the trans.

Prolog

Und so haben wir ihn gefunden. Ein klassischer Scheunenfund, bloß die Scheune fehlte. Das Auto stand in der Wiese hinterm Haus, jahrelang.

And this is how we found it. A classic barnfind, only the barn was missing. The car stood behind the house, right in the weeds. I bought it with a friend of mine and in the following months I talked him into selling me his half. (Great to have such friends) The previous owner had gone to great lengths to make the front look good, I think it got him a job designing garbage cans later in life.

Beginning
