OlyCharger in Le Mans

Had a great time at the Le Mans Classic race last weekend. The biggest vintage racing event worldwide hosted a number of classic racecars, among them one mopar Nascar barge made ist impression. The  Charger originally raced Le Mans in 1976 and Christophe Schwartz is bringing it back to the Sarthe in ist classic Olympia Beer livery. Powered by an original 426 Hemi from 1969 the Charger is geared to rund 260 kilometers per hour on the Mulsanne straight.

'70 Lineup

The sassygrass green 1970 Cuda is nearing completion. Some friends have been working on it, bringing it back into beautiful shape . Fresh immaculate paint, new interior,a stroked bigblock and a 727 trans are ready to hit the road.

On the road again

Back on the streets after a long winter. The weather has been good to us here lately so I decided to take the 'Cuda out as soon as it got done. Driving the five speed offers a whole new experience, a wonderful upgrade to enhance the sporty character of the car. I'm looking forward to a great season !

Done with the dash project of changing the speedometer to kilometers per hour. Still have to hook up the oil temp. gauge I installed.

Metric System

Getting the new speedo ready for the 'Cuda. The old 120 mp/h mark equates to 200 Kilometers which of course sounds much faster :-)

Converting to a metric speedometer

I have the dash pod out to convert the speedometer to a metric face. Luckily there is a fitting decal on the market, but of course you have to take everything apart  to apply it.

Got the interior stitched up again after the installation of the five speed manual transmission. The console had to go. I lowered the seats just about an inch, mainly to acquire more headroom when wearing a helmet on the track - seating position is just fine now, I can also see the speedometer better than before. Can't wait for spring to come along so I can get some seat time...

I'm preparing another K-member for the Cuda. It has been modified to accept a Nascar-style Schroeder swaybar, which are readily available in various sizes. In Addition, all seams have been rewelded for additional strength, the motormounts and the steering-box mount have been strenghtend as well.  
 The part is currently at being sand blasted and will be powder coated when finsihed.
